The
City of New Richmond lost their movie entertainment in the
1980's with the closing of the old GEM Theatre and had to travel
more than 20 miles in order to see a current movie.
In 1995, then City
Mayor Billy Smith wrote an opinion column in the local newspaper
expressing his desire to see another movie theatre in the City
and described the various benefits New Richmond residents would
receive. So we began our building process and with much study
and planning, we built our then small theatre. despite the bad
weather conditions at the
time.
More than a year later,
our theatre opened its doors as New Richmond 4 on
December 14, 1996. With four auditoriums to seat 474 people, we
offered DTS digital sound, a complete concession stand, spacious
lobby, and gave the residents of New Richmond a new local
theatre.
In 1998, we added two
larger auditoriums and became New Richmond 6. Our
expansion created 400 more seats, along with curved screens,
Dolby digital surround sound, expanded parking and new restrooms
to serve the growing New Richmond area.
In 2005, we again
expanded our theatre adding two more auditoriums that include
stadium seating for 343 patrons, a larger
concession area, even more parking space and a new party room
for birthday parties and other celebrations.
